Lampworking or flameworking was developed thousands of years ago. It is the art of melting rods of glass in the flame of a torch and winding the molten glass around a steel rod called a "mandrel". The bead can be shaped and decorated while in the molten state. Once the artist is satisfied with the bead it is placed in a kiln. The kiln process is called "annealing" and it hardens and stabilizes the bead so that it is ready to be used. I combine my lampwork beads with various findings and other non-lampwork beads to create unique, one of a kind pieces. All of my creations are made with great attention to detail.
